Mike Rinder’s mother, not long before she passed, arrived to Clearwater for a visit. Ben, our son, spent some time with her and was overjoyed. He told me after this visit that his grandmother had told him that she hadn’t heard from Mike in over a year either, just like Ben hadn’t. She said to Ben, at least they loved each other and how so many in the family love Ben dearly: such as myself, his sister Taryn and every other member of the family.
Ben’s grandmother gave him so much love and care—despite Mike’s cold and unloving attitude and alienation toward his own family members.

Shortly after this, Ben called me and told me that he hated Mike and that he wasn’t going to waste his life over the fact that he had a father who was so cold and hateful against him, when the rest of his family was loving and caring and loved each other.
